warm up part - 2

I admit the intention was to break out each player into it's own illustration but I thought it worked well this way.

Sketch Book Time

I have the worlds worst scanner.just thought you should know.

I bought this sketchbook a while back and thought the 6x6 format was interesting, It forced me to draw much smaller than normal. I also realized since I had less real estate I focused a little more on what I was putting down on paper.
er ya go, randomness

The Monkeys and some News

The Monkeys ---
This for a book project that has been rattling inside my brain for a while, this is just a high level concept of what the characters and palette might look like...i'm sure it will change as I iterate on the idea. I can't reveal any story yet but I would still love some feedback. I'll post sketches of this property as they emerge.

News---
soooo working for a one company for ten years has allowed me to work through many different projects and styles. so guess what?... give up? ok i'll tell ya. I'm starting a portfolio blog! Did you think it would be more exciting? Anywho, i'm going to try to dedicate this blog for roughs and sketches (mostly girlie's) and put up the more finished "concept and illustration" type work on the folio site. I'll let you know when it's available for the masses..I think this the most I've ever yammered on here.

Environment Art

These started out as b/w smudges that I worked into some moody environment pieces.
The exercise was to do a few rich organic pieces without any characters or man-made structures for scale ref.
er ya go..

sleepy head

It’s been a while!

I started this blog as a place for sketches that might not ever see the light of day. I never expected anyone to even post a comment so I wanted to thank everyone who has stopped by and left all the kind words and helpful crits.

This is a re-work of a sketch I did a few years back.

Muerta

I love the rich colors and playfulness that is Dia de los Muertos. This is my first attempt to capture a little of that palette.

Kuta Art Card Entry

I really enjoy the art style of Sean Galloway. This is a piece of fan art for his Kuta art card contest.

on a lighter note

I rarely get to stretch my legs on something as fluid as these characters. I had to be very careful on color choice so as not to overwhelm the rough energy of the line work. I’m looking forward to exploring this direction a bit more. enjoy!!!

North Guard

I had a lot of fun doing this one. At one point I had a polar bear in the background but the composition never really worked.
